Hi Fran, and welcome to SimV. Well you've chosen a tough thing to learn, helis are tricky, but worth it.
What I'd recommend is that you go to http://members.shaw.ca/hoversafe/Hoversafe.htm and use their lessons (they're free), and a number of people here are either graduates of hoversafe, or teach there! You'll learn all aspects of heli control and before you know it you're landing on buildings roofs or getting into spaces no fixed wing jock could.

Happy flying
Ozzy ;)

Fran - as you say - rudder (yaw) control is the essential thing :)
You will need to get a twist grip joystick as a minimum - you use the twist stick for yaw (rudder) control ..

I'll also be updating the Tutorial set we have here soon ...  ::)

I would highly recommend Hoversafe Acadamy. About 10 months ago, I went through their lessons and learned how to fly helos, and I now love flying around in helos perfecting my hover.

If i'm not mistaken, CalB is an instructor there
