bad multiplayer mojo

When I join a multiplayer session, I can't see anybody unless they join after me or I join before launch.  It only happens on my laptop and has only started happening lately.  I do admit to a lot of tweaking on my system (XP) but I can't seem to pin down the problem.  Any tips folks? ???  abd yes, all my ports are open.

What are your system specs? What method of MP are you using? And are you using default aircraft?

you copuld be looking at router or firewall issues as well.
