I am thinking of putting together a professionally presented, full featured colour monthly FS glossy magazine (title as yet undecided), to be made available to Flight Simulator users on a freeware basis, and would welcome interested parties to join me in this project.
The target audience would be the wide FS audience who do not necessarily frequent FS forums, but who would relish an FS inspired read for free.
The magazine (to be presented in pdf format for download) is intended to be written by FS users for FS users. I should also stress that it is not a commercial venture and will be freely distributable.
This project would particularly suit persons with a journalistic flair, or anyone who is able to write engrossing articles that will appeal to a wide spectrum of FS users.
Initially I am looking for 2 sub editors who will assist in the vetting of submitted articles and the general formatting of the magazine, and then for submissions from you the users with respect to the world of MSFS (though other flight simulators could be covered).
Applications for the sub-editor posts should be from persons who have the determination to see this venture through at least for the fist release so that general audience interest levels can be assessed (from which point the future direction of the venture would be assessed).
Could any interested parties with respect to the sub-editors posts please contact me now so that the successful applicants can be involved, and have a constructive input, from the outset.
I am also willing to accept articles relating to issues/topics such as (though all related subject matter will be considered);
User reviews of freeware releases freeware aircraft, scenery, utilities etc.
User experiences Have you completed a flight that blew your mind, or flown a leg in particularly atrocious weather conditions? Have you survived system failures and got your bird home safely? Have you experienced real-world scenarios that would be of interest to our prospective readers?
Tips and Tricks got a tip of trick that you think the wider FS world really ought to know about?
Are you a freeware developer that would like to contribute?
And so on.
If you wish to submit an article (please keep it reasonably brief and offer suitable dramatic screen shots in JPG format where appropriate) then start writing as submissions will be accepted once the 2 sub-editor posts have been filled (NOTE: submissions will NOT be accepted yet. A post will be made here to indicate when submissions should be sent). However, please bear in mind when putting together your review/article that all submissions will be vetted ferociously with respect to quality and originality.
In the meantime, if you are interested in the sub-editor posts then please contact me directly by email at andrtin@aol.com with the heading Sub-Editor Positions with a brief summery of the skills, energy and commitment that you can offer the publication.
Any comments are welcome here.
Please note that this post will also serve to gauge the overall level of interest in the magazine. So if you feel that reading such a magazine would be of interest to you then please to speak up and let yourself be known!!
Yours,
Andrew Tingle
