Postby cessna519NH » Fri Mar 07, 2003 9:44 am

Hello,
I hear a lot of people tlk about how one airline uses different engines than another so they change the cfg. to get the corect engine. Is this really possible? Could i cand my lycoming in my cessna to the new little more powerfull turbo lyncoming?

Chris, just open your aircraft.cfg file in notepad and scroll down until you find the stuff on engines, and then make alterations as you please.
As this is the virtual world you could shoehorn in a Merlin or something for some real zip!

To quickly and realistically turbo-charge a G/A piston aircraft:  In the aircraft.cfg file,  look for the paragraph:

[piston_engine]

And make these changes to these lines (not just paste these lines in).

turbocharged= 1
max_design_mp= 38
min_design_mp= 1
critical_altitude= 18000

This will have the effect of bolting a turbo-charged engine in there,,,,

You can also increase maximum RPM, but keep it to small changes or you defeat the "realism"....  like Ozzy said... you can give it 3,000 HP if you want, but what fun is that ?
