slightly strange problem

Postby Craig. » Fri Mar 07, 2003 5:05 am

i can finally play flight  again as mum decided to buy a new pc nice one to. but i have one problem, at low levels my ground looks to have slightly wavey effects. its difficult to explain but once above fl10 it seems to go back to normal. it looks a bit like the heat waves you get on a hot day.
only things are i cant get DX9 as i only have 56K modem on the new computer and the internet on it is rather expensive.
its an sis 650 graphics card, but i am planning on upgrading it when i get some money.  but since the game runs at over 35fps anyway i am not to worried right now.
thanks for any advice

Its probably a combination of not having dx9 and this card, I've never heard of it... What are its specs? Also does it have any jumpers on it to change settings?

the best i can tell you about the card is its 64mb's to it.
as for anything else, i wouldnt have a clue as its new to me to. i have an sis 630/730 on my laptop but the two are completely differant so its going to take some time getting to know how it works with settings. just going to have to wait till DX9 becomes avaliable on a cd i guess.

If th new PC is running windows XP, it should already have DirectX 8 installed. The differences between 8 and 9 wouldn't account for what you're see there.

The graphics "card" you have is in fact an on-board graphics chip.

You can read more about it here:

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=1182

As you'll see, it is more advanced than the average chip. A fact re-inforced by the fact that it's running FS2002 at all. :)
