Airport Approach Direction

Postby Marshallamp » Sat Mar 01, 2003 8:40 am

Is it possible to change the ATC instructions, so that an airport can be approached from another runway/direction. e.g Newcastle Airport in the NE UK is my local airport. Most aircraft approach Newcastle from the East (On Runway 25) but FS 2002 always instructs a landing on runway 7.
Any idea's chapps/chappeses.

The other alternative is to hunt down an AFCAD file for that particular airport.

That will usually (depending on how it's been written) enable all the runways present, to be used by ATC and A.I. Traffic.

I just had a look and there's an excellent 3rd party scenery add-on for that airport - egnt22.zip.

It was my 'Wind'
Thats much better. I've got the approach thing sorted, now to find this Scenery that you mentioned. I've down loaded Aircraft. Is this the same process?
Cheers Marshall.

You can also open the airport up with Afcad and close the runway you don't want to land on

It's similar to installing aircraft but you usualy have to ADD the new scenery in the Scenery library inside the FS2002 program itself after you've installed it.

Go get the files - the readme's should explain the process but if you get into trouble, just call back.

Best of luck. :)

I'm fairly sure I picked the scenery up at flightsim.com, but I couldn't swear to it. Have a hunt there and if you can't find it, e-mail me and I'll make arrangements to get it to you.

And hey, why waste tyre rubber?

haha how many times have i done that,to many:) i once done a flight from gatwick to atlanta everything was going well doing visual manual landing but there was a ton of traffic in line so i was so busy watching them and making sure i wasnt going to hit one of them that i completely forgot the gear and after the flight lasting over 5 hours(i had forwarded it a few times) the words coming out of my mouth after plowing into the tarmac were unrepeatable:)

Sliding a C-5, sideways down an 11,000 foot runway.....

Now THAT'S fun!!!

Don't even ask how that happened. I'm still embarrassed about that one!
