Bill McLaren R.I.P.

"The voice of Rugby" on the BBC passed away today.. I spent many childhood Saturday afternoons listening to his legendary commentaries on the Five Nations as it was back then, he had a truly recognisable voice and a way of commentating that made him likable to the masses.

"You could cut the atmosphere with a knife here at Murrayfield"..

Bye, Bill.

A legend of commentary; not just one of the best rugby commentators, but one of the best commentators in sport full stop.

Anyone in doubt, just google "Bill McLaren quotes" - the best ones of course are those involving wee mammals and fish! :)

RIP.
