"The Beautiful Game".....

....as many British Folk call; "Football"....>>>>

My description of the so-called; "Sport", and its players and its enthusiasts, is entirely different!

Shameful!

I thought that was pretty standard behavior in football matches.

I could never see the attraction of a group of blokes kicking a Pig's bladder around a muddy field, and kissing and cuddling each other when one of them manages to kick the Pig's bladder into a fishing net!

It all seems a bit pointless to me!... ...!

A football match is where young men drink just enough alcohol before the game to remain conscious, then engage in some good natured fisticuffs with fans of the other team.

Ya know, I don't think the ancillary shenanigans at Football matches are any different than at an American Football game; both crowds love acting like drunken mutants, without any consideration for other spectators... they stumble out of the stadium to continue their revelry, to the detriment of others.

Just been watching the violence on BBC News 24, all I can say is these people are not fans they are just lowlife scum. They go to an event for the sole purpose of causing as much mayhem as possible, I'm not a football follower but I thing true fans should be able to watch the sport in a safe environment. I don't know how the powers that be can do it but a good starting point would be zero tolerance for the perpetrators with hefty fines, an extended period of community service cleaning up the mess they leave behind and public notices showing their pictures.

Sorry for the rant.

Cheers
Rich

How can they do this, the Russian FA have no control over who goes to a match, the blame lies solely with the yobbos that ran amok. :x

Pull the other one. Sport in Russia is not about sport and their governing bodies are very political. What was seen in the south of France was organised crime (mobs) targeting innocent fans and, sadly, a hooligan element of British culture which still insists on going to such events. Throw in fairly indifferent policing and you have a very volatile mixture.

And to think where the 2018 World Cup is being played... :?

Nope.

On further research, I see I wasn't far off on my last comment - the head of the Russian Football Union is the Minister for Sport!
