air race details:

Set to be a good year albeit again the number of Unlimiteds is down. In the 'heavy iron' Unlimited class this year is Stevo (Steve Hinton Jr...yeah, THAT Steve Hinton) is flying Voodoo again and looking for another Gold. His racing mentor, the legend Bill "Tiger" Destefani is looking to reclaim gold for Strega and beat his former student and rival plane. The Rare Bear team claims they found the Bear's lost HP (remember she holds the absolute piston speed record). The Precious Metal team with their wild contra rotating Griffon powered modified TF-51 finally have a solid motor and can be expected to place high. Former astronaut "Hoot" Gibson is back in the saddle in the world's fastest Sea Fury, Race 232 (aka September Fury). All the top Unlimiteds are capable of between 480 and 500 mph!!!!

The Jet class is big this year and as a treat an old Brit warbird will be racing.

Sport Class again is dominated by Lancairs & Glasairs but with a couple very special birds making comebacks and 1st appearances including 2 Long-Ezs, Relentless NXT, and the wonderful V8 powered wooden wonder called the GP-5. Last year's sport class winning speed was 403 mph!!!! Not bad for some small kit planes eh?

T-6 class is always a very close and loud race with everyone on an even level aircraft & motor wise forcing pilots to win by flying ability.

Biplane this year is the usual...Phantom waaaay out in front of a gaggle of Pitts and a couple Mongs.

F1 this year is looking good. Vito from Switzerland is back looking for another gold win but with half a dozen aircraft capable of winning it will come down to piloting and how long motors last. Good old fashion air racing there!

Fly low, go fast, turn left!

PS at Lancair, the owner's Sport Class racer "Another Mistress" (aka JATO) is getting motor tweaks...ah the smell of water-methanol injection on a twin-turboed 6 banger in the morning....like Christmas and Hell being unleashed every time she starts :D

Time for me to load up my FS 2004/FSX Reno Air Race scenery again, and race around those pylons in my speedy Cessna 150 Aerobat, Adam!

Or, if you fancy a change of Venue, there's always the exciting Moffett Field Air race!

"FS2004 Flying Competition Scenery Package"...>>>> http://simviation.com/fs2004scenery88.htm
(Works fine in FSX).
