OK... well, not quite... slipping and sliding; our road teams are trying to be sparing since we've already used most of the allotment for the winter and we only passed the half-way point, per the calendar, on my paternal grandmother's birthdate (Feb. 4). Nevertheless, as they check in, guests affirm that it's been worse south of us. They're now heading north for better weather... and to slide down our ski slopes.

With snow storm after snow storm, I'm becoming a total wreck.

I've never had a particularly bad back. But shoveling the heavy wet snow for the past 3-4 weeks has done me in.

I can't sleep without waking in pain when I turn over at night.

Just taking a hasty step brings a sharp stab of pain.

I wish that it was muscular, but it's not. :(

My dad had back surgery later in his life because of slipped disks. The original cause wasn't from shovelling snow: my grandfather injured his back and left the family (we weren't a welfare government back then -- if you didn't work, you had no income to feed your own face, let alone others); my dad, at 14, was the oldest boy and strapped an extra log to his own back when he headed the horse team to the saw mill. However, when the problem actually started, it was related to snow when he was @ 20: the truck trying to push the car out of the snow couldn't get enough traction but there was cleared road only a couple feet behind its tires (tyres, for UK readers); my dad used himself as a push bar between the vehicles; he had back pains from then on. Not fun. I wish you well.

My back has been killing me too. I wonder why.

For your great memoires, a mere $239 you can put you in a snowcat to the summit and explore part of NH's Presidential Range. Experience Mt. Washington and its infamous weather extremes... it can be frozen in your mind forever!

We're a good drive south of there but I93 is a scenic shot up the middle of New Hampshire.

Again, just down the road from US, Gunstock will charge only $50 for a carload of fools on the 1st of April. They also intend an end-of-season event on the 6th of April.
