Prescott Farm has various winter activities for visitors. They haven't mentioned it in their winter hiking expediton write-up but they have snowshoes available for a $5 rental if you can't bring your own.

A stomp through the snow sounds quite appealing.

Here in Sussex it's still remarkably mild temp wise but that's about the extent of the good news. We've had the wettest Jan in over a 100 years, 200% more rain than usual. The ground is saturated and has nowhere to go, many parts of the UK southern area are flooded and have been since Christmas. The wind all winter has had some south in it (hence the mild temp) and has been driving storms against the coast, storm after storm. My wife and I went to Birling Gap for lunch the other day, the eatery sits on top of the cliff (circled in the pic), it did have a cliff top terrace but with the undermined cliffs and saturated chalk they've lost 9' of ground. The cliffs are changing shape on a daily basis.

Tonight we have the highest tide of the year with a south westerly storm to coincide so a surge iminent......more flooding. The rain is relentless and unlike other parts of the world our authorities are not used to it.......I'm staying in bed tomorrow.

Here in Herefordshire...

A bit damp, occasionally windy, low pressure, mild temperature.

Much nicer indoors... :D ...!

Paul.... ...!

I live at one of the highest points in the City of Hereford, so no danger of flooding for me....

Wading through water and mire where it aught not be is not so pleasant. One of the advantages of below 32 degree F temperatures is that one can walk on water.

Yep...

Been cold and snowy since late Thursday night; light but steady. Temps from 20°-25° F daytime, 10°-14° F at night.

Par for the course up here in the thin air...

The main event area is a ways north of us...

For those who like to pull fish out of the ice, there is a prize fishing derby next week.

During our great snowfall Wednsday, I knocked over a lamp when my main power was out. My guess is that a small shard from the shattered bulb wound up in my other footware (had my home boots on at the time); nevertheless, my left foot came out rather bloody after shovelling out my plowed-in car tonight and I got to work almost ten minutes late.
Anyway, with what was already down, we've got a hefty coverage of snow on the ground. Sprites and other miniatures can now make snow igloos just by carving little rooms in what's already there.
Also, with our recent white dump from the sky, Gunstock (click a link in a previous post above) has increased to 52 ski trails open.

Took 1½ hours to dig myself out to get to work -- almost ½ hour longer than I'd prepared for. The snowfall had settled down but it's started back up again; we'll probably get at least the 12" predicted. It's supposed to die down for the day. If not, there'd better some loud barking because no one may see the sleds passing in the Sled Dog Championship.

Thanks for your concern. It's supposed to be back to the 70s by the weekend.

That's why a lot of people live in Florida.
