The Winter Season is Upon Us

Postby H » Fri Dec 06, 2013 2:38 am

From reports, the pre-winter weather has already hit hard in the west and is heading this way. Although it's rather warm for this time of year (warm air is often pushed ahead of stormy weather -- we just had a cool rain rather than a cold day's snow), the ski/sled/board slopes are preparing. Just down the road from US, Gunstock opens for the season today.

We're supposed to get a snow cover from Mother Nature, herself, on top of any artificially-produced. As said, it's just down the road from US and Gunstock opens night skiing tonight. This is also a Free Ski Lesson weekend.

Anywho, the snow's on the ground, the slopes are open: they've got tickets on site and online; we've got tickets at our desk

So it wasn't incest -- he didn't marry his daughter!
Glad you corrected that.

Actually, if I have it correct, it was Harold Godwinson's wife that hailed from Mercia.

.......and Harold himself came from Bosham, a lovely little village on Chichester harbour.......This is documented in the epic poem "Harold's Smallholding":

Extract:
There once was a young man from Bosham
Who took out his bxxxxxks to was 'em
His mother said "Jack"
"If you don't put 'em back"
"I'll jump on the buggers and squash 'em"

The Gunstock slopes are supposed to get additional snow tonight. They've also scheduled a New Year's Eve celebration, with fireworks (the rocketing bursting up in the air type), from 1600 hrs to midnight.

Still very mild down here in Sussex. Between 5 and 10 degrees , Seriously glad the rain we've been having wasn't snow, no doubt the cold stuff will happen in Jan and Feb.
