I have to admit I only knew him from his portrayal of Gen Omar Bradley in the film "Patton". 97's not a bad innings.

My local news program said he was not only a good actor, but a true gentlemen and had just celebrated his 70th wedding anniversary recently. On December 18, 1938, Malden married Mona Greenberg. Their marriage was one of the longest in Hollywood's history

That's truly amazing in a normal marriage, let alone a Hollywood marriage.
