Check out the teaser at the bottom aswell. The ship appears to be under construction. My only complaint after seeing some high res pictures of the clip is the fact the bussard collectors are huge and not in following with the original enterprise 1701. However I am excited to see the ship graphically in the final movie even if it is a bit away from the original.

I saw the trailer as it was attached to Cloverfield...It looks cool, but not being the Star Trek kinda guy, I don't know anything about it besides Enterprise...LOL :D

A new Startrek movie? Cool!

Only kinda sad that they re-cast those cult-heroes. Somehow it just doesn't feel right. I know that Battlestar Galactica did the same, but since I never watched the old series it's no big deal. But A lot of people my age did see Startrek. Oh well...

And I do agree with Craig on the collectors... it has a certain warthog-feel to it...  ;D

Don't get me wrong here, I'm really looking forward to seeing this film, but why do the Trek writers insist on re-writing Trek history. Every real Trek fan knows Kirk was the THIRD captain of the Enterprise  NCC-1701. The first was Robert April and the second was Chris Pike. If, as it seems, this film is following the Enterprise from construction then Kirk cannot be the captain in this film >:(. Spok and Scotty did serve with Pike though.
Yes, I know, I'm a sad, sad Trekkie! ;) ;D

Hawker, my understanding is, apart from a couple of shots simmilar to the trailer, the enteprise will not feature as part of the movie. The whole point is that this is following the "original characters" through their training at the academy. This is why Lenord Nemoy is taking on the role as a teacher.
There were early rumors that a captain Pike would be cast, but I dont believe anything ever came of it in the end.

Now, you see, I thought the movie was about their first (or at least a very early) mission. I thought the academy stuff had been dropped. I'm sure that they did not all go through the academy together anyway. A pal at work tells me the Enterprise stuff was, as you said, shot for a trailer only and he did say Pike was going to feature so maybe I've been reading the wrong blogs? He has a very cool wallpaper on his PC here at work with a shot of the Enterprise from that trailer.

I'm still under the impression that its the academy.
But then who knows, Like enterpridse, expect this to rewrite it all anyway.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I'm excited to see the original enterprise and how it looks when it's shown in modern time design. The Enterprise E in Nemesis looked amazing so I am hoping they do a good job with the A. :)

WARNING! Possible spoiler alert!!

The film explores the origins of James T. Kirk, Spock and the crew of the USS Enterprise from the original "Star Trek" series and how these iconic characters came together. According to rumors, the story involves an elder Spock (Nimoy) and a group of Romulans (led by Nero, played by Bana) being transplanted into the past where Spock must prevent the Romulans from irreparably damaging the timeline. To do so, he will have to enlist the assistance of his younger self (Quinto).

I do hope this is wrong because it just sounds so cheesy. Why oh why can

well that storyline would explain why Shatner wanted to be a part of the movie. To bad he forgot he was killed in generations. ::) ;D

If thats the storyline I am going to give up on the idea of it being a star trek movie and just roll with it as 90 minutes of action and CG.
They may aswell have just carried on the next generation storyline to be honest. I dont like prequals and I certainly dont like prequals that re-write everything completely.
