I think I deserve a knighthood. Who is going to post a petition on Mr B. Liar's website proposing that I get one?

Sorry but the whole idea is ridiculous. :P

I thought knighthoods were strictly at the whim of the ruling monarch; didn't know there were petitions.   :-?

Petitions are a new gimmick of our current PM, Mr B Liar. Government by petition. I ask you. ::) The whole thing is a complete farce.

It's democracy at its best.
Takes a bit longer 'though...

I think you're confusing petitions with referenda.

It's odd to me that they've "democratized" even that tradition.
I think bestowing those honors is a perfect task for a monarch in a parliamentary system...  A good monarch should have a feel for who's popular, and it's not like they give them land with the title anymore or anything. ;D
