I went to Eric Clapton last night in Edmonton, and wow. I have never been so amazed in my life. I mean, you think his playing is amazing on CD or the radio, but live, when hes there in front of you, he just blows you away. I'm still in awe...13 hours after we got home.

My favorites were Little Wing (my god, you could feel the emotion coming from him, as Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan where both his good friends, and are now dead) Layla was spectacular, and so was Wonderful Tonight.

Nice, but honestly enough, Eric Clapton is one of the few musicians I can't really stand.

Annoying way to play guitar, annoying voice - not for me.

I wore out Disraeli Gears right after it was released in the late 60's.  Clapton's guitar work and his vocal renderings on that album, indeed with all four Cream albums, and certainly all throughout his career, has always been superb.

I just recently picked up the Cream reunion DVD.  Once again, Clapton's performance on guitar and voice was once again superb.  His solos were varied, very well structured, and fit each tune in accordance with the structure of the tune.  Baker, Bruce, and Clapton are due great kudos for the reunion performances.  

All rock musicians, known and unknown, owe a lot to many late 60's rockers.  Clapton is one of them to whom we pay homage to, his contribution to rock music has been outstanding.

I don't like to cop a plea here, and truly believe in sharing honest opinions, but I speak with a certain license, having played in groups from 1967 to 1973.  My own ability on guitar has been fairly phenomenal, then and still now.  Over the years, as my abilities got better, my perceptions did also.  Clapton is still, in my not so humble opinion, one of the greatest.  Originality, solo structuring, original compositions, etc., all make for a great musician.  Clapton has done all of these and more.

Yup, love his music, especialy from his Cream time, sunshine of your love is still one of my favorites, offcourse layla comes right next to that.
