What instrument do you play?

I know this has probably been discussed before, but I never come down here and I'm bored (day off of school for MLK day, and all I have to do is study for an economics test ::))

So what musical instrument do you play?  If you play more than one, what's your favorite?

I'll start it off:  I began playing piano..jeez...probably 10 years ago (or more).  I then stopped that and got a guitar about 7 or 6 years ago (must have been 11 or 12).  Then when I was 13 I got an electric guitar as a Bar Mitzvah present, a Gibson SG Special, mahoganyish (deep red) unfinished wood with crescent moon shaped inlays (now its rare, they stopped making it with those inlays about a year after I got it).  It's American made, too  8-)

A month or so ago I got a used Fender Squire bass guitar because I wanted to learn how to play the bass (always loved the sound they make ESPECIALLY in blues songs) and now I play that.

I would have to say that my favorite is the bass, not the bass itself but its my favorite to play.  I've only been playing for a month but I really enjoy it and I seem to be almost a natural at it.  Eventually I'm gonna get a new one, but this one is fine (hundred bucks and all that is 'used' about it is some scratches that I would have put on it anyways and a replaced knob but I can pick up new knobs for like 10 bucks)

Now its your turn...

I play the drums but don't have the room for them, so when me and my buddies go for a jam we borrow the studio's.  As i don't have the room for a drum kit i have a transparent guitar!!  Not that good at it but getting better :)

Drums and mandolin are my basics. However I also play a bit of bass and I used to play guitar until I smashed my hand up.

I played drums "semi-pro" for something like 12 years. I packed it in soon after my daughter was born & taught myself the guitar for my own amusement. Got quite good at it even if I say so myself. I also play piano & keyboards very badly. The guitar is my favourite instrument (I have two) although I haven't picked one up for some years.

Doug, do you have any pics of you on drums? It'd be interesting to see what kind of set you played. :)

Here's one of me that was taken yesterday at a show. :)

Guitar since 1964.  Rock, classical, some jazz, all very advanced.  Keyboards, specifically Baroque repertoire mixed in there somewhere for 8 years, not so advanced but educational.

Yep, everything from Bach to Black Sabbath and everything in between.  What a trip it's been.  First rock group: Jan 1967 to March 1970, second from Jan 1971 to May 1973.  Then classical guitar studies, classical guitar ensembles, teaching guitar, etc.

Yeah, it's been discussed before, but there are a lot of newbies here we want to include.  Keep on pluckin', or bowin', or whatever guys!!

It took a bit of finding but this is about the best I have. Taken around 1965 (when I was young & handsome  8-)) at Gatwick Manor nightclub. We only played at the best venues. :) The kit is a Trixon. I'm sure I've posted it before.

Trumpet Was the funnest thing I ever played Trombone was the worst, sounded good but I don't have long arms and the Baritone.... Sounds like a trombone but plays like a trumpet, Was alright but we always had boring slow parts that were rarely heard..... I liked the trumpet best. Lips got too big for the mouth piece though so I had to change. Played the trumpet for a year and a half, Trombone for 8 months, Baritone for 2 years.
