Some of these go back to my era. The blonde girl in the Mamas & Papas is Michelle Phillips. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0680645/ She was married to John Phillips, a founder member of the group who passed away on March 18, 2001. After the group split in 1968 Cass Elliot (Mama Cass) went on to a successful solo career. She sadly died of heart failure alone in a hotel room in London in 1974. This was probably due to her weight & the inevitable drug abuse. The fourth member is Denny Doherty who I believe is still performing.

'A Whiter Shade of Pale' is one of the top pop anthems of the 1960s. I believe that only a couple of the group in the video (Gary Brooker, voice and piano; Matthew Fisher, Hammond organ;) actually played on the recording which was not unusual in those days. Gary Brooker is still performing today. I read that jazz drummer Bill Eyden was paid

Excellent!!  8)

 Today's music can't touch the music of the 60's & 70's.
I was seven in 1967 and this is the music I grew up with!!  I sound like my Father when I say to my Daughter " How can you listen to that junk!! "   ;D

D*mn...you tube access is blocked in my work....so I don't know what to find in those links....

Anyway I love old bands like Aphrodites Child (break album), King Krimson, Jane, Yes, and I have a passion for the Jeff Waynes War of the Worlds sound track....a classic...
Anyone with the same taste for old bands?

There is more like ...Van der Graf Generator...Eloy...Marillion...and the best - Pink Floyd sure... 8)

PS. I'm 31 at the moment...almost 32.... :P

im 27 - those are a few of my favorite songs.

My wife and i are big fans of those and other groups from before our time. The music is better, more meaningful and more "wholesome" than just about any music that followed.

of course i still love nirvana and nine inch nails and a lot of the new stuff, but if nirvana was on one station and Cat Stevens or Bob Dylan was on another i would definately go for the older tunes.

Great find. thanks!

i may not be over 30 but i know quite a lot of the music that you've posted in the video's, due to the musical upbringing from when i was little:

the first video is Cat Stevens - Father and Son which in my opinion is one of the best songs that he wrote,

the second video is Procol Harlem's - Whiter Shade Of Pale which is the first song i learnt to play on the keyboard when i was 5

number 3 is a song i haven't heard in absolutely ages Midnight Train to Georgia by Gladys Knight

this is the type of music my parents brought me up with although i may like some of the modern rock and metal genre's i prefare the 60's - 80's era of music.

John

p.s i'm only 22 at the moment

Two members of 1960s band Procol Harum are going to court over royalties from their biggest hit, "A Whiter Shade of Pale," a lawyer said Friday.

Matthew Fisher, the band's former organist, said he was seeking a credit as co-writer of the song, a 1967 chart-topper still regularly played on radio around the world.

I don't see any argument myself. They never denied that the organ part is based on 'Air on a G String' by J S Bach.

Its such a shame that it has come to a High Court case.
I have followed Procol Harum since they first started, particularly Mathew Fisher, 'cos I regularly emulate him and play WSOP on my Hammond B3...!

"You Tube" has some good video/sound clips of Procol Harum playing some of their songs, including WSOP... ;D...!

Paul...;Image;..... 8)...!

P.S. Contrary to popular belief, Mathew Fisher actually played a Hammond A 100 organ, not a Hammond B3 organ..!
...and Garry Booker (the singer) only played a Piano...;)...!
