Right now I'm listening to a CD made of an LP recorded on/about 1958, "Cantares de Navidad" or "Happy Songs for Christmas", an collection of Christmas songs recorded by several well-known (in Puerto Rico) groups of the time.

While I was only about 5 years old at the time it first came out, that LP was one of the best sellers year after year.  My father called that LP "Pap

IT did, especially since I also found a number of vinyl LPs with the family's brand among my late mother's belongings.

Now, to see how I can get them transferred to CD ...!

Get a CD recorder and plug your turntable into it... or do what I do and plug a turntable into your sound card inputs on your PC (found I needed a preamp for that, though).
I have maybe 100 LPs and have barey made a dent digitizing them... still working on my old cassettes.  :P
A lot of work, but what a joy to toss that stupid casette in the trash once I've ripped the music off it... ;D

There's a pro here who will do it for you or give advice if you wish to do it yourself. Very interesting site. http://uk.geocities.com/soundrediscovery/
He's in the UK so there might be similar people in the US. I would be surprised if there aren't.

I found more tips here. http://www.pcabusers.net/vinyllp/vinyllp.htm

This all seems a tad time-consuming & I seem to recall some years ago it being mentioned that it would soon be possible to record digitally from a vinyl record. Unless I'm imagining it this obviously didn't come to anything.
