I clearly remember going to see it with my brother-in-law & late father-in-law soon after general release in this country. Apart from having to travel a few miles to Brighton I don't recall the cinema for some reason but it's quite possible this no longer exists. Many things have changed a great deal since 1977 & some not for the better. IMHO

The film which still occupies my dreams each night as I drop off to sleep...  8)...!

Paul...The last remaining pilot making my way down the Trench to the Fusion Generator in the heart of the Death Star to release the weapon which will destroy Darth Vadar, and the Master, and end the Galaxy wars...
Peace will reign...
...and I will finally get off to bleedin' sleep... ::)...!
LOL...!

:D :D :D
I remember seeing it (premiere week!) at the fantabulous Ziegfield Theater (fortunately still in business)... I was part of just the right demographic for it, too: just starting to get pimples, and crazy about anything to do with outer space. It was amazing: glorious Dolby II stereo (golly!); fresh print; big screen. I was in kid heaven.
Seems a little cheesy now, but you youngsters have no idea what a quantum leap it represented at the time! Didn't matter that the story was unoriginal and the script was... eh.... there had never been a sci-fi film with production values like that ever before.
