You ever experienced that? That one moment one particular song can capture the exact state of mind you're in? What are the songs that belong to some big moments in your life?

I have two of them...

"Buckshot lafonque - another day"... expressed exactly how I felt as my relationship with my first girlfriend ended.

And now "Coldplay - fix you" touches me in a way a song has never done before...

About the time my grandmother died I listened to In the end by Linkin Park a lot...like the entire day..It drove my sisters crazy...Crawling was also rather mood perfect..

Last Holiday I was in the UK I sat near the edges of a field underneath a very old tree...I was listening to November rain and watching the deer which stood 15 meters in front of me wondering what I was doing..

Don't have many songs that can instantly change my mood....Although United states of whatever usually pts a smile on my face

There are others but Solitaire by the Carpenters brings back how I felt at probably the lowest period of my life. It was written by Neil Sedaka & Phil Cody. I don't know their life stories but whoever wrote the words must have been where I was at some time. Lyrics here. http://www.vex.net/~paulmac/carpenter/lyrics/solitaire.html

It's a beautiful song. I can listen to it without crying now.

There are a couple that bring back memories that i wish they wouldn't. But nothing significant.

Mines:

"Avril Lavigne - Slipped Away" this expressed my feelings of the day i  found out my Nan had died and these lyrics hit me the most when i heard this song as i never got to say goodbye properly and hadn't seen her for a while before the day she died;

"I didn't get around to kiss you
Goodbye on the hand
I wish that I could see you again
I know that I can't"

"Amazing Grace"
Just listening to the Bagpipes on this song sends shivers down my spine and its also what my nan was layed to rest at the cemetry to.

Nemo ..... :'( :'( (rip nan)

The first full night I spent with my girlfriend:
Aerosmith: "I don't want to miss a thing"

and when we split up:
Guns n' Roses: "Since I don't have you"

"And I don't have fond desires,
and I don't have happy hours.
I don't have anything,
Since I don't have you.

Happiness, and I guess,
I never will again.
When you walked out on me,
In walked ol' misery,
And he's been here since then"

Thought those words looked familiar. A beautiful song. Never heard Guns & Roses version but it goes to show you can't beat the old classics. ;)

Joe Rock, who, legend has it, wrote the words to "Since I Don't Have You" while at a traffic light in 1958, died in Nashville Tuesday of complications from quadruple-bypass surgery.

A South Side native who spent his final seven years in Nashville writing music, Mr. Rock was 63. ............

Mr. Rock's biggest claim to fame, the single "Since I Don't Have You" with a melody written by vocalist Jimmy Beaumont, hit the U.S. charts in March of '59 for Beaumont's doo-wop group, the Skyliners, climbing as high as No. 12.

The timeless ballad rose again to No. 23 in 1981 for Don McLean, with additional covers through the years by an amazingly diverse array of acts: the Brian Setzer Orchestra, Johnny Mathis, Art Garfunkel, Barbra Streisand, Ronnie Milsap, Guns 'N Roses and the Broadway cast of "Grease."

Mr. Rock was 21 and Beaumont 17 when they collaborated on the hit. The writing duo scored another hit in June of that year when the Skyliners charted with "This I Swear," which climbed to No. 24.

Mr. Rock wrote the words to "Since I Don't Have You" on the way to rehearsal a day after having his young heart broken by a girl who left him to attend airline school in Tulsa, Okla. Beaumont wrote the melody and original top tenor Janet Vogel added the heavenly vocal finale.

When you reach a time in life when you are refered to as "Elderly", and have have gone through life with all it's up and downs, you finally learn take it all your stride, and not get stressed out by anything which comes your way, good or bad... ;)... ;D...!

All the wishing/worrying/praying/listening to, and playing sloppy records*, in the world won't change anything....trust me... ;)...!

Just laugh it off...remember you are still alive...;D...!

When I'm in a pondering mood (I often have a little ponder ;)) I think it's a pity it takes us a whole lifetime to learn that. How much simpler life would be if we knew that to start with. 8) Funny old world ain't it. ::) :D

PS. The problem being that when you do find out it's too darned late to take advantage of it. :'(

Thats how i feel life should be, but ive got a long way before i can think that.

Paul you lead a great way of life, and i totally respect how you do it, i wish i could do the same!
My mother said my grandad had the exact same attitude has you Paul, all he used to say "I fought in' the world war, thats all im giving to this bleedin country, and nothin is gonna bloody bother me now'"! ;D

I can really just imagine him saying that now!
All i can say is, live life to the full, live life to the best,

Hope people understand what im saying.

Many thanks all
