I've had this problem before, and 'twasn't solved, but I've got to try this one...

I've always liked "Coming 2 America" by Ludacris, but there's this song used in the backgorind, and I'm just dieing to know what it is!  I first heard it in the Encarta Encyclodpedia interactive show "Explorers" or "Great Explorers" or something like that.  Scroll down to the track listing, and preview the song "Coming 2 America".  What's that song in the background!?! :D

I wish i could help but i just HATE rap, crunk, hip hop whatever you would call it.

You might be able to find out the name of it by the credits of the song on the cd, just a thought

Dang... it's right on the tip of my brain. Russian composer...19th century... can't remember.
I do like Ludacris, though- he's wittier and more intelligent than all of the  purveyors of forced cynicism and ridiculous posturing in hip-hop...

Come on Rotty!  Search the annals of your memory! :-[ It's killin' me to know!

Ahoy to Ludacris.  He won me over when he said "I pack more nuts than Delta airlines"! ;D  Plus he doesn't just rap about how he's better and richer than you, something most hip-hoppers are fond of doing. ::)

Sorry... try googling the song title more; maybe some review or something will have that info. Or look around sfor sites that have samples of Rusian classical music; might get lucky there.
 Or... go cry. ;D

Yeah, it's sad how such an exciting form is so badly diluted... thank God for people like Ludacris, OutKast, Eminem, etc. They're all seriously talented and have street cred and all that, but don't take themselves so seriously. And they're pretty much over the whole "cult of acquisition" and "cult of gangsterism" things...

Roger, ETA to cry, 1 minute. ::) ;)

...Eminem...

Well, I personally don't like Eminem.  I've contested for a long time the only reasson he's as famous as he is is because he's white.

Very difficult to pick out what it is - it's only a short sample, and there's some guy ranting over the top!  ;)

Could be Grieg's 'Hall of the montain king', or the 'Battle on the ice' from Prokofiev's 'Aleksander Nevsky'. Or it could even be Lloyd-Webber's 'Phantom of the opera'!

:)

Aah - OK, no problem. It's the 'big tune' at the start of the fourth movement of the symphony no. 9 by Antonin Dvorak, nicknamed 'From the New World'.
