Scales? ;D
Just kidding... hard to suggest something new when I don't know what you usually play....
Here's a suggestion: go out into left field- try a completely different style of music. Try to learn one piece in a vein you normally wouldn't touch. Might be interesting...

Close; it's "reggae".
Wanna hear some reggae guitar playing that's not just chords on the off-beat? Check out Ernest Ranglin, if you haven't heard him. Considered a master jazz and reggae guitarist, but he doesn't play cheesy fusion. Hard to describe... but he's a legend.
Then there's African music... King Sunny Ade is a great underrated guitar player, and the pedal steel guy he plays with (urgh, what is his name?!) plays like he's from another planet. Very different, but it rocks in its own strange way. And with juju and other forms of African pop, you can hear the African roots that inspired rock, and also hear the rock music that filtered back into their culture, like with country music and reggae...
Or maybe slack-key guitar (Hawaiian style)? That's different. Can't think of a name offhand, but that could be inspiring, trying a different tuning and sort of re-discovering the guitar.
Reminds me- I started learning to play guitar years ago and stopped when I broke my old Guild acoustic; need to get that thing fixed.
