Steve Vai at Town Hall

I never go out to shows anymore, but a friend hooked me up with a ticket for Vai at Town Hall, which is a nice old theater. Unfortunately, we were in the balcony, and the PA there just doesn't cover much up there. Also sounded like the sound man was busy working on the main stack mix for the first four songs, so it was pretty crappy.
BUT... not a huge Vai fan, but I can get into the "guitar gymnastics" thing; he had two other guitar players who were pretty amaxing themselves, and good old Billy Sheehan on bass- he's astounding.
And Vai is a great showman; they really tore it up and put on a great show.
Sure was fun to just go out to Manhattan with a friend- got pretty damn drunk, too!! Yes, I took the train- Rottydaddy don't drink and drive!

Steve Vai knows what he's doing.

True. When it comes towild, out-there guitarists, I prefer Steve Morse or Satriani or Adrian Belew, but the biggest impression I get from Vai is that he's poured his whole life into playing guitar and making it fun to watch. Very cool.

Vai co-owns all that is earthly. A few other guitarists have invested the same as vai has  ;D ;D

Had the pleasure of seeing Via 12 times (few with Alcatrazz and DLR) and will be seeing him again in soon on his new tour.
He is absolutly amazing to watch! A true talent if there ever was one ;)
I think he is still touring with Tony McAlpine and Dave Weiner both great players in thier own right and being backed by Billy Sheehan and Virgil Donati you got one hell of a power group!

The best I have seen was the G3 Tour with Via/Satch/Malmsteen now that was a guitar lovers show!!!
