Since the shooter was also killed by police I guess no one will know what the incentive was.

Yes this is horrible... Dimebag was one of my heroes.  I heard some people are saying that the killer was a deranged Pantera fan who blamed Darrell for breaking up the band.   :(

I heard about this on the way to work this morning, it's terrible, I actually met Dime outside the Hard Rock Cafe' in Chicago about 10 years ago, He was very cool, just hanging out and having a good time, you would have never known he was famous, at the time Pantera was pretty huge but Dime was just like any other metal head you would talk to. There was only about 10 of us who knew who he was so there was no huge mob or anything, he was talking to everyone.

The metal world has lost one of it's greatest guitarist's for no reason at all, I was lucky enough to see Pantera in concert several times.
As someone who listened to Pantera from their beginning to the end, there just isn't enough you can say about something like this, and even though it doesn't change the final result, I'm just glad the worthless scum who did this got his head blowed off in return, there could be no fairer justice.
Still no linked images allowed around here Paz! Naughty...

I personally never cared too much for Pantera, well actually the music was awesome but I can't stand to listen to singers that can just growl, scream and grunt.
But if you can ignore aweful singing the music was nothing but Metal, had the crunch and bang.
It is sad that for some unknown reason Dime was taken from us, I never met him but have many friends who had and they all said the same about him that Paz said.
Now all that is left are the recordings and memories, and of course the media is left to write the story how they see fit since the shooter is dead no one will ever know why.

Have you ever heard Cemetary Gates?  That shows a lot of his vocal skills.
