Best Remake of a Song?

Postby Wing Nut » Tue Aug 26, 2003 4:18 am

What is the best remake you've ever heard anyone do of a song?

By far for me, it would have to be

'With a Little Help from my Friends' by Joe Cocker.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, but Joe could remake a Beatles song better than the original! ;D

Guns 'n Roses Live And Let Die, much more punchy than the original. More of a Bond theme tune in my opinion.

Deffinatly, without a doubt in my mind, the best remake of a song is Agent Orange's remake of the Jefferson Airplane song "Somebody to Love"

you can download the Agent Orange version of this site: http://www.punkrockers.com/agentorange.htm

I'm almost tempted to agree with you Mark, being a G'N R fan, but I really love the Wings version, it's my favourite Bond film and theme song.

I'd have to say when Metallica did Bob Seagers "Turn the Page."

I like Type O Negatives remake of Seals & Crofts "Summer Breeze", they do a lot of covers that always turn out very cool, Neil Youngs "Cinnamon Girl", Deep Purples "Highway Star" and the Doors "Light my Fire" are some others.

Fear Factory's "Cars".  I actually thought it was their song at first, but then I was watchin' the boob tube, and saw it in one of those stupid car commercials where everyone dancing for no reason inside their car, and thought, "Hey, they stole Fear Factory's song!".  My mom told me that that was the original though...

The original sucks in my opinion. :P
