Darkest Hour

Postby ozzy72 » Sun Feb 04, 2018 4:55 pm

Oh my, what a film! I never thought a 2 hour long film about politics would have me glued to my seat, but if Gary Oldman doesn't get the Oscar for Best Actor I'll personally burn down the Hollywood sign!
See it guys, it is amazing!!! And I only spotted one historical error, can anyone else spot it?

Not sure which one you refer to. I spotted more than one. Put it down to artistic licence.

Mine was visiting France in the Dak, I seem to recall he actually went in a DH 95 Flamingo?

That's true if you wish to be pedantic. The Dak didn't enter service with the RAF until 1942. However, it would be impossible to find a DH Flamingo nowadays.
I'm sure that only dedicated aircraft enthusiasts (a tiny percentage of the general public) would notice & it didn't affect my enjoyment of the film.
A similar example to the wrong Mark of Spitfire being used in films about the BoB. :)

Sorry to hijack the thread, not seen the film but very intrigued by the DH 95 Flamingo. Shame there's not one for FSX that I can find, is there one preserved anywhere.

Cheers

I know that there was a DH Flamingo at Gatwick just after the end of WWII. A colleague of mine worked on it.

According to this the last surviving example was scrapped in 1954. http://www.airliners.net/photo/British-Air-Transport/De-Havilland-DH-95-Flamingo/1578230
