Chuck Berry October 18, 1926 – March 18, 2017

I guess that he never amounted to much. No pop songs and such.

Maybe a few will remember him.

His gag novelty song "My Ding A Ling" hit number one in the USA and the UK in 1972, definitely a "pop" hit in its time.

I was lucky to see the 1973 oldies movie "Let The Good Times Roll" which featured Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard, and other 50's greats, saw it on the big screen in a theater, too. For a long time this was a "lost" film because of its heavy use of split-screen that didn't work well when displayed on TV/VHS video. Chuck was in great form during the filming, and even jams for the first time ever with Bo Diddley at the end of his set.

Chuck Berry scenes at 3:31 and 1:23:20.

I also expected it would be posted earlier.

One of the greatest musical innovators of the 20th century and an inspiration to very many of the most successful musicians.

He had a long life at least and I actually didn't know he was still alive! (to my shame!)

"Memphis, Tennessee" is an all time favourite of mine (love the guitar accompaniment) and I’m pretty sure it charted in UK during the sixties.

RIP Chuck.

There's a little bit of Berry in ya if you play guitar. And if you don't play, you still have been down Berry Lane. One of the most influential figures in rock. RIP Chuck, and thanks for all the music and memories.
