It (the NTSB) concludes that his decision to ditch on the Hudson River, rather than attempting to land at an airport, 'provided the highest probability that the accident would be survivable.'

'There was no effort to crucify him or embarrass him,' said Malcolm Brenner, a retired NTSB specialist in human behavior. He was part of the team of investigators who first interviewed Sullenberger after the accident. 'If there were questions, it was to learn things.'

But the movie tells a different story..................

Did we really expect anything different....?

I think I'll give it a miss.... ;) ....

Sceptical-old-me doesn't believe anything I see in; "Hollywood Documentaries"....

...even MOST documentaries, with annoying, added music and annoying sound effects!

Its all in the mind of the Director at the time of shooting the film, followed by the Editors!... ....!

I'm always surprised that the real subjects affected in the film agree to it being made in the first place...

....in the name of; "Entertainment".... ...!

...Shame!.... ...!

HELLO ALL, good & sunny morning: allow me to brag my past a little (just a little, so don't go). In last 20th Century 70's, I lived & worked in the 16mm documentary studio of my friend (anthropology)Dr. Scott Robinson, excellent camera man with a totally silent Beaulieu & zoom objective. I was in charge of two VW Combis (one 1959 T1 & one 1974 T2), titles, credits & animations (frame by frame with a Bolex), sound recording (with a marvelous NAGRA) and fix-it-all emergencies on the field. Adding my VW 73 Combi shop-on-wheels, we caravaned to the desert with the Huicholes in search of Hikury (peyote in spanish), went North of México to film the construction of an electricity plant powered by charcoal (in a country plagued with oil reservoirs    ), and many many other etcéteras. Here (in case you speak spanish) I include the Huichol Documentary:

There is no such thing as "reality" in filming: FiRST, the script has to be aproved by the Producer (who brings the money for the project: he better like the documentary mesage!) and THEN the project is limited by time & resources. The weather is another limiting factor... not allways favorable :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: Afterwards, the whole thing is mounted in the studio editing table: we had a Steenbeck with two sound tracks & one image track, with a normal TV size screen, keeping all tapes & negative on spools. Before, we had the tipical & traditional upright Moviola (one sound & one image track) with a magnifying glass to view the negative (my eyes still hurt!! :o ). All magnetic tape (sound) and negative rolls, just lay all over the studio floor. NO SPOOLS until all is sincronized, cut & taped.

Once at the Editing Table, one picks the sounds & scenes that compose the story. There is no random choice or free willy in documentaries, imagine adding traditional Hollywood's lack of imagination. Then we delivered to the Optical Transfer Lab, who do fades, optically mount credits & titles to an image, do color equalizing (some shots tend to be "bluer" or "reder" than others & affects the observers eyes, gives head akes).

So, I am not surprised by lack of... ¿REALiTY? (¿really?) in this very interesting movie. I hope the diching is done acording to what happened, the rest... well, I know how Jury people in tryals behave: with VANiTY & ENVY :violin: :violin: :violin: Will this movie be better than The Flight (2012)?

It will be intriguing to see how a (what was it?) 6 minute flight can be expanded to a 2 hour movie. Still, I have every confidence Mr Eastwood will tell an interesting tale. He rarely disappoints.

Summer 1960- I was in a New York sinagoge (the largest one I ever saw, lost in the middle of thick woods) because my brother in law, a NewYorker from the Bronx with jew religion (& conections!), was invited to his nephew's Bar Mitzvah with his non jew family (my sister & me). The ritual lasted for a short while, then started one of the biggest parties I have ever been to. I danced Hava Nagila with very pretty girls, then Jimmy Durante did some songs & stand up comedy, then I met an arquitect and we started our conversation about Frank Lloyd White, whose home (wirh a tree growing in the middle of the living room, through the roof & covering the house) we just visited while driving from Madison Wisconsin to atend this party. He said the Golden Gate bridge was built by the same team who built the Washington bridge of New York. The original design was to be covered wirh Limestone like the Washington bridge, but first the structure had to be protected with primer. After being painted & letting it air before a second coat, came the Sunset... and the bridge was illuminated in GOLD!! All residents of San Francisco asked for no limestone covering that beautiful optical effect. Then, I resumed my dancing with pretty girls

So true, excellent actor & director (& musician!). So far he choose the Judges for villains (¿who else better suited for the role?) and that is atracting publicity. There is no good or bad publicity: the trick is to have people discuss the issue!!

We always wonder about accuracy with something like this, even when directed by Eastwood. Granted his 'Letters from Iwo Jima' was well done and interesting,
and he's had enough movies to his credit as actor and director, but to inject Hollywood drama into this incident is questionable. Assuming there is drama in this movie. Something's got to fill in the time, right? And even if it's done accurately, we all know how it ends, fortunately for all involved in the actual incident, good.

So I dunno about this movie. I do know that I'll skip it.
