Truly a sad day. My favorite character he played was the Sheriff of Nottingham in 1991's Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
My wife and I still quote one of his lines quite often "..and make the stitches small." He was sinister and funny at the same time; not an easy trick.
He was really an outstanding actor and a credit to his profession. We'll miss him.

An Aircraft Mechanic only needs two tools, Duct Tape and WD40.
If it moves and it's not supposed to - use the Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and it's supposed to - use the WD40.
