Pumpkins Aglow

It may seem a bit early to mention but Laconia's town line is less than a mile from us. Anywho, the City of the Lakes (Laconia) will replace Keene, NH, for the Annual Pumpkin Festival. Zippo, the prime sponsor, will continue to supply the lighters that will put over 30k pumpkins (jack-o-lanterns) aglow for the festival's 25th anniversary start in Laconia on 24 October.

The festival originally started as a local event in Keene, NH, and escalated. However, rioting occured last year in the student housing area of Keene State College. Although this was in another area of the township, it occured during the time of the festival and Keene worried that it would burden visitor safety should they need to divert their limited police force. Laconia was one of four major NH towns to vie for sponsoring the festival but Laconia, already long experienced with large crowds during race weeks in nearby Loudon (NASCAR and Bike Week), won the bid.

This announcement should be updated for event verification within the next six months but last year's events included a road race, live performances, a costume parade and pumpkin bowling along with a display of thousands of jack-o-lanterns.

Between our sites, I am quite disabled when trying to correct here. The above link info is incorrect and the computer here shut down during the correction typing whilst the Simviation BB3 system won't allow previous post corrections once you've relogged; for added difficulty, this computer won't allow cut and paste.

Nevertheless, this is our new website link (click the link, then -if needed, click your url refresh icon).

PS: I liked our old website px better; if you wish to see the px of our motel, it's shown in The post "Finally..." in the "Other Sites" section.
