The nature of humans involves diverse, sometimes conflicting objects of entertainment: events in the Roman arenas, modern boxing, wrestling, races... and observations of Mother nature, also sporting objects of conflict.
Anyway, amongst the more peaceful observations is seasonal scenery. This is cooling off period in New England, autumn (also called Fall, ending with the leaves falling from most of our hardwood trees), is considered a most colorful scene from New Hampshire's southeast coast to our northerly Presidential Range in the White Mountains.
Along with their schedules, the following sites cycle through some scenic presentations:
M/S Mt. Washington cruises
Hobo (near the White Mtns) and Winnipesaukee (along the lake and south -- just north of me) railroads

Fantastic, colourful, Autumn links, H...

...!

The trouble is, for me nowadays, with my thin bones, constantly in search of warmth, I mostly observe the Autumn/Winter scenery from inside a heated motor car if at all possible!
Being located further North, I suspect that your Autumn golden scenery occurs slightly earlier than mine in Middle England.
My Motorcycle Autumn scenery rides only take place on warm days now....

...!

Tomorrow, Sunday, Weather permitting, I will be off for a Motor Bike tour around the Forest of Dean, in Gloucestershire, but it is still slightly early for the golden glow of the trees to appear.
...I just hope that its WARM!

I'd love to do the rail trip someday...but have driven Rts 2, 302 and the Kank, found it all to be breathtaking and nature to be second best in the world...oh, the best you ask? I'm originally from Colorado, and for me, nothing beats the autumn glow of a mountain shimmering with the gold of late afternoon aspen trees.

Aren't you somwhere near latitude 52 degrees? I'm between 43 to 44 degrees north. However, as you climb into the hills, temperature levels can substantially decrease; I suspect our hills become bigger bumps than yours. Nearer the ocean, it's milder here, too. As you, I'm a ways inland, above the sea level; daytime temperatures are currently around 60 degrees F but they quite well drop for the night.

Talking about breathtaking, try the Kankamagus in the winter -- downhill! Especially from your side toward Conway... holding your breath...
Many, many moons ago, my mom played over radio station WTSV, heart of the Twin State Valley (NH & VT) but I haven't been to the northwest of NH for a long while and the furthest into northern VT way back when was a trip to Barre.
