Top Gun: The Movie

Postby Hawkeye07 » Fri May 16, 2014 9:20 am

It was on May 16th 1986 that the movie "Top Gun" hit the big screen. It had action, romance, suspense, intrigue, thrills and chills. Everything except a realistic script. Still love the flight deck action though. The only part of the movie that was true to life.

Searching the web for other Top Gun pictures I came across this unfortunate bit of movie trivia.

Image

In this file photo from Paramount Pictures, director Tony Scott, left, and star Tom Cruise work together on the set of 1986′s “Top Gun.”
Scott jumped to his death from a bridge in San Pedro on Aug. 19, 2012.

Scott was slated to direct the Top Gun sequel with Bruckheimer as producer and Starring Tom Cruise.

Filming the flat-spin scene in the movie killed a great airshow performer:

"The Professor"
He did a spectacular routine in the Super Chipmunk including a part where he would EXIT the plane IN FLIGHT, wave to everyone, then get back in and continue flying 8-)

Great aviator

Paul, not offended at all. I laugh at it too. As I said in my first post ...everything except a realistic script. The funniest part was at the graduation when Iceman and Maverick received their orders to immediately depart to the ship. Were these the only two pilots the U.S. Navy had who could save the free world from this godless horde?

And speaking of "Fairey Tales" who do you think invented "Soap On A Rope"? Sailors did! After several months at sea nobody bent down in the shower to pick up a dropped bar of soap.

That movie was based loosely on Risky Business only instead of daddy's Porsche Tom got to screw around with the taxpayers millions..... My son flunked out of flight school at Fallon when his instructor threw up twice in his ox mask.

.....You got it. Hawk!.... ... ...

Top Gun:
A blatant Homo-Erotic film, (as wonderfully described by Quentin Tarantino.... .....), using some very nice flight sequences, and LOTS of shiny, naked, masculine flesh, to excite and titivate (some of) the audience!.... ;) ...!

Me?.....I cant help but cringe, grit my teeth, and curl my toes up, at the very mention of "Top Gun".... :o .... .....!

Cheers, Hawk!... ;) ...!

I can barely remember the movie in it's entirety, but I too loved the flight sequences. And then there was some drinking, fighting and cursing mixed in. ( Hollywood at it's finest ) Now, was that the movie where some obstanant dude on a motorcycle living in a teepee was begged to come back to top guns? Or do I have two movies mixed up?
