James Gandolfini dead at 51: 'Sopranos' star suffers massive heart attack in Italy

James Gandolfini, the New Jersey-bred actor who delighted audiences as mob boss Tony Soprano in “The Sopranos” has died following a massive heart attack in Italy, a source told the Daily News.

“Everyone is in tears,” the source close to the 51-year-old TV tough guy said.

A press-shy celeb who got his start as a character actor and became famous relatively late in his career — thanks to his breakout role on “The Sopranos,” Gandolfini has largely avoided the spotlight since the last season of the beloved show aired in 2007.

The burly Westwood, N.J. native has appeared in several supporting roles since then, playing the director of the CIA in “Zero Dark Thirty” and the gruff blue-collar father of a wannabe rock star in “Not Fade Away” last year.

Really sad. A great loss. A real character and he would have done so much more. He was really only begining his career ........

James Gandolfini will a tax 'disaster,' says top estate lawyer

The taxman is coming after James Gandolfini's heirs.

The late "Sopranos" star's will is "a disaster" that could see over $30 million of his estimated $70 million estate go to the government, a top estate lawyer told the Daily News.

"It's a nightmare from a tax standpoint," said William Zabel, who reviewed the document at The News' request.

The 51-year-old's "big mistake" was leaving 80% of his estate to his sisters and his 9-month-old daughter, Zabel said.

That made 80% of the estate subject to "death taxes" of about 55%, and the bill is due in nine months, Zabel said.

Where did he get his will - Legal Zoom? I can't conceive of a lawyer not understanding the marital deduction.
