I just now saw something on Yahoo news but haven't read anything yet. Ray Manzarek, keyboardist for the Doors, is dead at age 74, cancer.
The Doors were, big, big, big back in the late 60's, and for me, personally, their music is immortal. My group back then was one of the 1st in the Miami area
to play Doors tunes live at gigs, and we all were at the Doors infamous Miami concert (I posted something about that somewhere in here a few years ago).
Manzarek's keyboard stylings were most unique in rockdom, and his use of a Fender Rhodes piano bass in lieu of the Doors having a regular bass player
was, at that time and maybe even would be today, also very unique.
The Doors recorded 6 albums, and the 3 remaining members recorded 'Other Voices' after Jim Morrison's death.
It is a great loss for the world of rock music. May he rest in peace.
