Quite a flashback for me there, Webb, that Rampal/Bolling, 30 years ago played some of it, not that specific CD there, but some other stuff done up for guitar and piano, so it was me on guitar, with a lady pianist friend. Some of the music was published, so we were able to render it pretty accurately. Wow, I had totally, totally forgotten all about that.
Some great stuff here.....Jimi, Chicken Shack and Mr Slowhand plus the others.
I was trying to think what blues song has been covered most, I don't know the definitive answer but this one's got to be a candidate. My favourite version is Eric Claptons version on the album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs......"Nobody knows you when you're down and out" by Jimmy Cox 1923.
At last!! Lightning Hopkins Man, I was racking my brains for days trying to remember this gents name.. I also like "Baby please don't go". I really like his relaxed guitar style..
These guys can keep going on and on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCbBVhBsJmE and i like to hear the bass playing the boogie woogie, and that marveleous pianoplayer sure got IT.
