Is Itunes really this bad??

Postby TSC. » Sun Jul 27, 2008 12:14 pm

Hi all,

Have just started using Itunes today, trying to sort out my music into an easy to use library so that I can find things easily - but Itunes is driving me mental!!!

How come when I import an album from a CD, Itunes just appears to randomly place tracks in the file library wherever it pleases & not in the same order as on the CD?? It's driving me mad.

Please, is there an easier/quicker alternative to Itunes that can still be used to sync Ipod's?

>:(

There are other places on the web where you can purchase music legally. You can even use music subscription services like Rhapsody

We're getting off topic here, this isn't about where to get music from, it's about having some software that can rip music & keep it in the same order & file it neatly, Itunes doesn't seem to be able to do that - WMP can though, so thats what I'm using now.

I've been an iPod fan for some years - great piece of techno. Intuitive use, with truly gapless playback (essential for opera and long symphonies, like wot I listen to). Stick with iTunes, it's not that bad once you get used to it. Here's what I do to get the tracks exactly where I want them.

Open iTunes, and then insert the CD you want to rip. iTunes will display the disc contents - but don't rip immediately. Highlight all of the tracks and right-click - choose 'get info'. Amend the fields to say what you want (this defines where the are put in iTunes and the iPod), and then rip. Hey presto, the music's exactly where you want it.

iTunes will rip as mp3 (I use 192kbps) or AAC, your choice.

If you need any more assistance, I'll be more than happy to help.

+1

I don't have any trouble with iTunes, and I love my iPod, especially for the purposes mentioned above ;)......long train journeys have never been the same :P

.mic

Oh, and those who say iPods break to quickly.....I've had mine for 3 years now, and it still works as well as the day it came out of the box :)

EDIT: On second thoughts, last week I did accidently delete all my album artwork while trying to add one more cover.....took me aes to put all those on :P

That's strange, I have always imported tons of CDs to iTunes and it keeps the song order...
