Antonin Dvorak's New World Symphony

Postby Scorpiоn » Tue Feb 21, 2006 7:50 pm

I've been playing with Dvorak's Symphony in Audacity to cut out all the parts I don't like.  Mainly all the parts between the good, brass and timpani filled barrages. ;D

The part I'm having trouble researching is the actual movements or whatever.  For now I'll just be splicing out the parts I don't like, but it'd be more correct to just divide the song into all the movements and such.  Does anyone else have this song and know about the movements?

Well I wouldn't call it a song ....... what exactly do you want?

Im sure if you google it you'll get the info you're looking for ..... I can't find my copy of it at the moment so can't  really help.

Heres one link from a quick search.

Well, I consider anything pleasing to the ears music.  Muslims don't like it when you call that praying/chanting music, but I wouldn't know what else to call it.  And that Tibetan monk chanting too.  Besides, isn't the definition of music instrument repeating a series of melodies and/or singing? ;)

That was one of the first aricle I found. ;) Thanks though. :) I found through Amazon there are four movements.

I'm basically just trying to find out when each movement starts and stops.  By the way, my copy is 50:34.

Scorpion,

The whole thing uncut is about 45 minutes, and the four movements are all separate, so it's easy to hear where they start and finish.

Instead of hacking it about, why not listen to the whole thing? It's worth 45 minutes of anyone's life!

;)

I have actually.  It's nice, but it's not, shall I say, "my style"?  It's only the fourth movement I like.  At least I know where that one starts.

Queue the Jaws theme. ::) ;D

If you like something slightly heavier from Dvorak ...... try Symphony No6.
