Manfred Mann

It was 7:00 this Saturday morning when yet again I was kept awake singing to myself....

"Davy's on the road again,
wearing different clothes again.
Davy's turning hand-outs down.
to keep his pockets clean....."

Manfred Mann's Earth Band, sung by Paul Jones.

....and I had to get up early to ask this infuriating question, otherwise I will never get a proper nights sleep ever again... ::)....!

Manfred Mann was the leader of the group named after him. He was the odd-looking chap with the beard you're talking about.

I was never too keen on the Manfred Mann group myself although I do like Paul Jones & some of the original members. Apparently they haven't spoken to Manfred for years. I went to a Paul Jones Blues Band concert last year & was suitably impressed.

Everything you wanted to know about the Manfreds.

I have no idea who Davy was. Not sure I remember the song.
