"Only a Gibson is good enough"

Postby H » Sun Feb 09, 2014 3:30 am

...was stated on the wartime (WWII) Gibson guitars -- until 'the boys' came home in 1945.

According to the write-up via our WWII Wright Museum, located on the other side of our big lake (Winnipesaukee -- although the name actually translates closer to "the land around the lake"), a similar thing happened as with baseball: women were hired on by Gibson to replace the men who been enlisted into the military. Of course, even music contributed to the war effort -- not that a guitar always accompanied coming in on a wing and prayer...

Fenders weren't made until 1946.

You know, this used to be a helluva good country. I don't understand what's gone wrong with it. - George Hanson, 1969

How interesting. Whatever it takes. More stuff online if you Google the slogan.

Then and now, especially now, guitar selection is very subjective. Whereas long ago it was pretty much mainly Fender or Gibson, at least for electrics,
now there's so much out there I often wonder how a beginner chooses, but the selection options are pretty extensive as are price ranges, all that of course
contributes to the subjective factor.
