This is actually a real thing from Microsoft. They actually hide many diffrent little things in all thier diffrent programs.

It don't quite like me I get mostly symbols then a few random words then more random symbols.

Poor thing. It must be scarred for the rest of it's digital life. :'(

ok lol.
in one of my gauge files it had aascii(?) art.
it looked like an aircraft propeller.

right click and use notepa.

right click, open with, UNCHECK THE 'ALWAYS USE THIS AS THE DEFAULT PROGRAM' box, select notepad, and hit okay.
