Gottcha!

The strong young man at the construction site was bragging that he could outdo anyone in a feat of strength. He made a special case of making fun of one of the older workmen. After several minutes, the older worker had had enough. "Why don't you put your money where your mouth is," he said. "I will bet a week's wages that I can haul something in a wheelbarrow over to that outbuilding that you won't be able to wheel back." "You're on, old man," the braggart replied. "Let's see what you got." The old man reached out and grabbed the wheelbarrow by the handles. Then, nodding to the young man, he said, "all right, get in."..

Per an event that happened a long time ago at a granary transfer dock:
The bet was that a large, particularly strong fellow couldn't put a 250 pound sack under each arm and carry them the full length of the dock and all the way back without stopping nor putting either sack down. He picked up the sacks, walked the entire length of the dock, spun around without hesitation and walked all of the way back... but was unable to collect on the bet... why?

Is it because he put the sacks down when he got back?

Is it because he put the sacks down when he got back?
Very difficult to put money in pocket whilst carrying the sacks for eternity... and the opposing fellow in the bet declares with a nod at the sacks, "Just a minute, I said without putting them down!"

I know what you mean Steve. We had the 'shelf stretcher' in the grocery business when I was in high school. I used it as an excuse to get out of work for about 45 minutes.

The assistant manager did not send me after any other non-existent tools after that.
