Sad but true sometimes. And that's why I go to my bank in person instead of trying to communicate over the phone. Never again. It took like a dozen e-mails to finally straighten out one of my accounts, and all I did was ask a simple question, "Can this be done?" I didn't say to actually do it. Next thing I knew, they did it. Aauugghh!!

I have BT internet, and when it went down we had to wait over two weeks to be re-connected. Seemingly endless hours were spent talking to some guy in Mumbai called Hamid. He was a nice enough guy, but his accent was so strong it made it hard for me to understand him.

I have the same problems understanding call centre operatives with strong regional accents. They might as well be speaking a foreign language. I often wonder what the qualifications for these jobs are. I would have thought being clearly understood by the majority of the customer base would be the first priority. The opposite would appear to be the case.

I find that most Indians speak better English than I do.
