Oh, heck, even a near miss will cause percussion trauma to soft tissue. The percussion wave it creates if the round even comes within 6 inches of a man head will stun and deafen him. A .50 is one heck of a round. I've never heard of anyone surviving a body impact and a hit on one of the extremities will rip arms and legs off it the round hits a bone (which it normally does).

My step-son sent me a picture of what a .50 did to a suicide bomber in Iraq. Extremely graphic....

Indeed. I've seen a lot photos up close of guys whose fate was ended by a .50 cal. You're right, it is graphic and not for the faint of heart...

Indeed. I've seen a lot photos up close of guys whose fate was ended by a .50 cal. You're right, it is graphic and not for the faint of heart...

I saw an M-16 Quad .50 Halftrack similar to the one below open up on the edges of an airfield in Nam. It was blowing large trees down and even men behind trees would literally turn into hamburger in an instant. I was in awe of it's power and ability to make men vanish......


The unit I saw was an ARVN Unit and at best was a Korean War vintage.

Well if your using the PTRS 50.cal on CoD5 and someone is using juggernaught its pretty easily to survive it  ::)

Damn.....

I know they are big, but man, that really is quite big compared to the others (yes, I am looking at the right one, lol)

I've fired the 5.56 and 7.62. The latter started to get abit more painful after a dozen rounds or so... the .50 must be really quite bad. Saw a video where they removed the muzzle break off an M82 - Nearly broke the guy's collar bone  ;D

There's a huge difference in a video game and real life. I've never seen a video game that comes close to real life combat. For that fact, even Hollywood can't get it right. They're getting close with movies like Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan.

Biggest problem is that the bullet always hits before the report of the rifle.

And as proved in films such as James Bond... The bullet always hits the objects which are harder to hit. E.G the railings around Bond or the ground around his feet.


Gotta be there to know what it's like.
