I got you one better. TRUE STORY! In Michigan, among many other lottery games, you can play the Mega Millions game, which draws Tuesdays and Fridays, or you can play the Classic Lotto game, which draws on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Mega Millions is a multi-state game, which usually means the jackpots are bigger but the odds are far worse.

Anyway, a few years back I played the Mega Millions for a Friday's drawing, picking the "special" numbers that tickled me at the time. Didn't win. Big shocker right? THE VERY NEXT DAY, the Classic Lotto drawing (again for far less money) were THE EXACT NUMBERS I CHOSE FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE!

The very first time I bought a Powerball ticket with entirely random numbers, I missed the live drawing.  Instead I went to the Powerball website to check the numbers.  Imagine my surprise at matching all the numbers except for the powerball, which amounts to $200,000!  For about 15 minutes I didn't know what to say, then the website updated to the new numbers...

Wow, I know "close" only counts in horse-shoes and hand-grenades, but it should count for something in the lotto too.
