An American Airlines flight was due to takeoff from JFK to Miami, delayed for almost three hours. As the gate its in is scheduled to be free for  another arriving aircraft to park at the same gate, the delayed airplane is moved to nearby unoccupied gate and passengers are informed. Again, the same happens as the flight is delayed for further two hours and the aircraft is moved. When finally the fault is fixed and passengers are taking their seats, a flight attendant addresses the passengers: "Dear passengers, we appologise for the delay. The problem has now been fixed but may we remind passengers that this is the Miami flight so please check that you are on the correct flight, thank you". The captain leaves the plane!

trust me, i had longer delays!

Reminds me of a flight I took ten years ago. My coworkers and I were heading to Vancouver, BC on Continental and the flight was late getting into Houston from Chicago.

Once we got on the plane, we were informed that those flying to Vancouver were to get off the aircraft as it was only flying to Denver. Continental told us to go over the United Airlines desk and get a flight with them. Turned out to be a blessing. Since I was accumulating airmiles, I asked if they had any first class seats availabe as an upgrade. There was one left. Best $75 I ever spent :-) Nevermind that we got into Vancouver at 1am.

I had a flight from San Antonio to Atlanta get diverted by hurricane Andrew many moons ago. We were late arriveing in Atl, and I missed my connecting flight to Columbus, OH. Got stuck there for 8 hours waiting for the next flight north. I was 14 or 15 at the time so Delta took real good care of me, lots of planes to see in 8 hours with no parents around to say sit down and wait!

I hate gate changes :-/

LAX, still in security line when departure time rolls around, to loud to hear announcements, get to the gate only to find a Cathay 747-400 rolling up...after a big...#$@%@#$...moment, find out my Malaysia 747 is now at the other end of the terminal with an hour delay.

Wish my delay was only 5 hours, was leaving from KFAT to KAQB was supposed to leave at 5am, got delayed till 8pm, then had a 6 hour layover in salt lake before finally getting home at 5am 24hrs from when i was supposed to leave
