Here's another with a bit of editing:

The Reap of the Gossiper
Mildred always got up every morning before daylight and went to bed quite early at night. She'd also made herself the self-appointed monitor of her church's morals and kept sticking her nose into other people's business. Although several members did not approve of her extracurricular activities, they feared her enough to maintain their silence.
She made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon. She emphatically told George, before several others, that everyone seeing it there knew exactly what he was doing. George proved to be a man of few words. As all expected him to explain, defend or deny, he said nothing. He just stared at Mildred for a moment but turned and walked away.
The following weekend, not long after Mildred had turned on her lights to start her day and then get ready for church, she heard the revving of an engine outside. When she peeked out her window, she saw George driving away in his pickup. Late in the night, George had quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house... and left it there all night.
