Nose gear retraction

Nose gear retraction

Postby EGNX » Wed Sep 07, 2005 12:26 pm

Two airline mechanics were working on a 747 when lunchtime came. Rather than leave what they were doing, they just took their lunch break while sitting in the cockpit. While they were eating lunch, one mechanic bet the other that the landing gear would not retract if he pulled the gear lever up.

He lost the bet.

If Posted before..... I DONT CARE! >:( ;)

Can that really happen? I am really curious because I am in the Tupolev 334 prototype (cn 02 -  RA94001)pretty often and I always have a big temtation to pull that gear lever down  ;D
What would happen?

Not read it before and so have lots of others. Andrew has been here years (actually one of the originals)- so most people may not have seen it if it was posted ages ago.

If the squat switches are working, nothing will happen.

The problem is, if the squat switches are working.

Some lesser designs (Cessna) can have the gear try to come up on the ground, and a few other aircraft. The 747 would not however.
