Too bad it didn't burst into flames  ;D if I flew RC planes, I'd wreck 'em ALL the time... by accident of course

OUCH!! :( :(

BTW, just yesterday I had my first flight in my R/C plane. They said I was a natual! About a month or two before I can solo! :)

Oh dear. Back to the building board. At least nobody got hurt. That looked a tad dodgy. ::)

As I used to tell people when they asked for my help, if the thought of smashing up your prized possession upsets you go & find another hobby. Aeromodelling is the most complete hobby I know. You spend most of your spare time building new models & repairing old ones. With a little luck you spend the rest actually flying them. ;)

Yes Doug, you are right,
How many times have I returned from the flying field carrying a nylon bag filled with balsa bits (the nylon bag being the restructered aircraft covering. Kept it all together more than the modern foam jobs!!!)

Hmm. Is that why the guy at the shop said to buy the extra bits I'll need when(not if)I crash my helicopter.

That was a very fast little model... if he'd been a little less aggressive, it might have gone better. Trying to get it down on the deck when it's not even stabilized yet after that turn.... d'oh!!
One of the hardest things in RC flying must be resisting the urge to smash the controller in disgust after your baby gets destroyed...  ;D

Unfortunately there are far too many R/C pilots who think they're a lot better then they actually are, and think that the biggest ego boosting crowd pleaser is the 2" altitude low pass (inverted of course). If I had a jet model I'd be inclined to keep it no less than 15ft from the ground (bar take off and landing! ;) ).

On the question of models, I currently have in the hangar...

Profile P47 Thunderbolt (completely overpowered, but has nice vertical performance, and good for hand launching!  ;D )

Chilton DW1A, OS 20 4-stroke powered (Engine, although out of production since the OS26FS arrived in the early 90s, has only run about 10 times, and flown about 5)

Giles G202, underpowered - needs an engine swap with the P-47! ;D

In production (box!). Electric BAe Hawk...
