This is the Denver Jockstrap, the anti-car theft device of the future.

Here is a demonstration.

A car thief holds you up.

Our patented arm retracts to assault the thief in the private area.

Force is applied to neutralize the threat. As you see, the thief has dropped his weapon.

The hand of the arm is detached to ensure no counter attacks.

Then, you can safely drive away and report the event. Only police stations has the special key to remove the device, forcing the thief to turn himself in.

Crime does not pay!

I hate to see that thing misfire.  What happens if you lock yourself out?

I have no idea, what would happen in a misfire.

P.S Yes it is from Naked Gun 33 1/3. I rented it and took some screen shots.

I just ran across this thread from several years ago. Since I just recently saw the movie, the comments here are great. And Loafer Smurf has done a wonderful job describing the operation of this device. I disagree with only one item: It seems that the "patented arm" does not retract to reduce the possibility of counter-attack, Rather, the arm retracts so that the lawful owner of the vehicle can simply drive away. Once again, thanks for the postings.
